COMPARE OZONE THERAPY OPTIONS

EBOO vs. Major Autohemotherapy

Both procedures expose a patient’s blood to a controlled ozone and oxygen mixture before returning it to circulation, but the process, equipment, vascular access, and appointment experience differ. Eden Healing Oasis offers both Major Autohemotherapy, often shortened to MAH, and Extracorporeal Blood Oxygenation and Ozonation, known as EBOO.

What Is Major Autohemotherapy?

During MAH, blood is drawn through an IV catheter into a medical collection bag. It is combined with normal saline and an anticoagulant to prevent clotting.

A controlled ozone mixture is introduced into the bag, and the blood is gently mixed before being returned through the IV. MAH is a batch process, meaning a measured amount of blood is treated and returned during each cycle.

Person wearing blue scrubs and gloves operates medical equipment on a white cart, with an oxygen tank and various tools visible.

What Is EBOO?

EBOO uses access in both arms and a continuous external circuit.

Blood is drawn from one arm by a pump, mixed with an anticoagulant, passed through a filter, exposed to a controlled ozone and oxygen process, and returned through the other arm.

EBOO vs. MAH at a Glance

Vascular access: MAH draws and returns blood through an IV catheter. EBOO requires access in both arms.

Method: MAH processes a measured amount of blood in a collection bag. EBOO moves blood through an external circuit.

Filtration: MAH does not use EBOO’s external filter process. EBOO passes blood through a filter as part of the circuit.

Complexity: Both require appropriate screening, sterile technique, vascular access, and monitoring. EBOO is the more equipment-intensive procedure.

Which Ozone Procedure Is Right for Me?

A provider may consider your health history, current medications and supplements, bleeding or clotting concerns, vein access, previous tolerance of IV procedures, your reason for seeking ozone therapy, and whether another therapy is being considered.

The more involved option is not automatically the more appropriate option.

What Do EBOO and MAH Have in Common?

Both procedures involve blood handling outside the body, an anticoagulant, controlled ozone exposure, and return of the processed blood.

At Eden, ozone therapy is positioned as part of an individualized integrative plan. It should not replace necessary medical evaluation or conventional treatment.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the main difference between EBOO and MAH?

MAH processes a measured amount of blood in a collection bag. EBOO moves blood through a continuous two-arm circuit that includes a filter.

Does EBOO require two IV access points?

Yes. Eden’s EBOO process uses access in both arms, with blood drawn from one arm and returned through the other.

Does MAH use a filter?

MAH does not use the external filtration step that distinguishes Eden’s EBOO process.

Is EBOO automatically better than MAH?

No. Greater procedural complexity does not mean it is right for every person. Suitability depends on health history, vascular access, goals, tolerance, and provider guidance.

Which procedure takes longer?

Appointment time can depend on access, protocol, and individual factors. Ask the clinic for the expected duration of each option when scheduling.

Do both procedures use an anticoagulant?

Eden’s public description states that both processes use an anticoagulant to keep blood from clotting while it is outside the body.

Can EBOO or MAH replace conventional medical care?

No. Ozone therapy should not be presented as a substitute for necessary medical evaluation or prescribed treatment.

How do I compare the cost of EBOO and MAH?

Ask for the current fee for each procedure, what is included, whether preparation or testing is separate, and the anticipated number of visits.
