If you are researching OxyHealth HBOT, you likely want to know what the chamber is like, how it works, and whether it may fit into your care plan. Eden Healing Oasis now has two OxyHealth Fortius 420 hard-shell hyperbaric oxygen chambers at our clinic in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The second chamber expands our capacity while preserving the careful screening and supervision this therapy requires. HBOT is not a stand-alone answer, and it is not right for everyone. At Eden, it is one tool considered within a personalized plan.

What is OxyHealth HBOT?

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy, commonly called HBOT, involves breathing oxygen inside a chamber pressurized above normal atmospheric pressure. The added pressure allows more oxygen to dissolve in the blood plasma, making more oxygen available to tissues. The amount of pressure, oxygen delivery, session length, and number of sessions depend on the reason for treatment and the individual receiving it. A provider should review your health history before HBOT begins. OxyHealth is the manufacturer of the Fortius 420 chambers at Eden. The Fortius 420 is a prescription-use, hard-shell chamber designed for clinical settings.

Why Eden chose the OxyHealth Fortius 420

The Fortius 420 combines a spacious interior with the control features needed in a clinical environment. According to OxyHealth, the model includes:

  • A 42-inch interior diameter
  • Reinforced steel construction
  • Internal and external controls
  • Redundant pressure regulators
  • Medical-device pass-through ports
  • A contoured mattress
  • Eden operates its chambers at pressures up to 2.4 ATA, with each treatment pressure determined individually by the provider.

OxyHealth identifies the Fortius 420 as an FDA 510(k)-cleared device. Clearance allows the device to be marketed for its intended use; it does not establish every condition discussed in HBOT research as an approved use. That distinction matters. We separate recognized medical indications from investigational or off-label applications and do not present ongoing research as settled treatment.

Two chambers, with thoughtful accessibility features

Both of Eden’s HBOT units are OxyHealth Fortius 420 chambers.

Our newer white chamber includes a customized accessibility seat and loading system to help with entry and exit. It also has a communication system so the patient and team can stay connected during the session.

Our blue chamber has also been upgraded with a communication system.

These features can make the experience more comfortable, but accessibility needs remain individual. Please tell our team about mobility limitations, transfer needs, pain, balance concerns, or claustrophobia before scheduling.

What an HBOT session may feel like

As the chamber pressurizes, your ears may feel full or need to “pop,” similar to airplane travel. Our team will explain ways to equalize pressure and will remain in communication with you. Before a session, you will receive instructions about clothing, skin and hair products, electronics, and other prohibited items. These rules are part of hyperbaric fire prevention and should be followed exactly. Some people experience temporary fatigue, lightheadedness, ear or sinus discomfort, claustrophobia, or short-term vision changes. More serious complications are uncommon but possible. Tell the team about lung conditions, ear problems, recent procedures, fever or congestion, diabetes, medications, pregnancy, and any other relevant health history. No medical therapy is risk-free. Proper screening, trained supervision, communication, and adherence to the manufacturer’s safety instructions all matter.

Established indications and ongoing research are not the same

HBOT has recognized medical uses that include carbon monoxide poisoning, decompression sickness, certain nonhealing wounds and serious infections, delayed radiation tissue injury, and compromised grafts or flaps. Some of those conditions require emergency or hospital-based care and are not a statement about Eden’s scope of services. You may also encounter HBOT research involving other conditions, including neurological recovery, chronic illness, athletic recovery, or integrative oncology. Research interest does not mean a use is FDA-approved or proven for a particular person. Eden distinguishes these areas of ongoing study from established indications and discusses uncertainty directly. If you are receiving cancer care, our role is especially clear: we sit beside your oncologist, not in place of one. Our care is designed to complement your existing medical treatments, never replace or delay them. We encourage patients to continue working with their primary oncology team.

How HBOT fits into care at Eden

At Eden, the right tool at the wrong time is still the wrong tool. Before recommending HBOT, we look at the person in front of us: current diagnoses, conventional treatment, medications, symptoms, goals, and potential risks. We then decide whether OxyHealth HBOT belongs in the broader plan. That approach is led by Nicole Saleske, FNP-BC, APNP, a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner and Wisconsin Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber. Nicole is also certified in IV Nutritional Therapy in Oncology through IIVNTP. Her oncology background helps Eden coordinate supportive care without confusing it with oncology treatment. You are not a protocol. You are not broken. Your plan should reflect your biology, circumstances, and existing medical care.

OxyHealth HBOT FAQs

Is the Fortius 420 a tank or a chamber?

“Hyperbaric oxygen chamber” is the correct term for the hard-shell equipment used during HBOT. Eden has two Fortius 420 chambers.

Can I communicate with the team during a session?

Yes. Both Fortius 420 chambers at Eden have communication systems. The blue chamber was upgraded, and the newer white chamber was customized with its own system.

Is the newer chamber wheelchair accessible?

The white chamber includes a customized accessibility seat and loading system. Because transfer needs vary, please speak with Eden’s team about your specific mobility requirements before scheduling.

Is OxyHealth HBOT FDA-approved?

The more precise wording is that the Fortius 420 is an FDA 510(k)-cleared Class II medical device. A cleared chamber does not mean HBOT is approved or established for every condition being studied.

How many HBOT sessions will I need?

There is no universal number. The appropriate course depends on the indication, your health history, response, and care plan. HBOT should not be presented as a one-session fix.

Does Eden bill insurance for HBOT?

No. Eden Healing Oasis is a cash-pay clinic and does not bill insurance. The team can discuss fit and next steps during a discovery call.

Is OxyHealth HBOT a fit for you?

HBOT is one possible tool, not the whole plan. A conversation with Eden’s team can help determine whether it deserves a place in yours. Eden Healing Oasis serves the Green Bay area from our clinic at 345 Cardinal Lane, Suite 5, Green Bay, Wisconsin.<
